National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)

In April 2004, NCCP began transition to a competency-based training and certification model to replace its 30-year old coaches training program.

Technical courses are offered through the Ontario provincial sport governing bodies. Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) coaches are encouraged to attend the two-day Special Olympics Canada (SOC) Competition Coach course during their first year coaching.  For coaches whose athletes will not be competing at Provincial or National Games, SOO will soon make available the one-day SOC Community Coach course.

"Introduction to Competition" courses (which replace Level 1 and Level 2 Theory courses), and Level 3 Theory, are offered through The Sport Alliance of Ontario:
